Hi! I am MaryJoy Salvani, a 3rd year TLE student here to talk about Quilling =^_^=

This module covers the different types of quilling that are made with the use of paper, glue, scissors, pencil and ruler. Quilling is a topic that belongs to Handicraft. Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is rolled, looped, curled, twisted and otherwise manipulated to create shapes which make up designs to decorate greetings cards, pictures, boxes, eggs, and to make models, jewelry, mobiles etc.

Quilling starts with rolling a strip of paper into a coil and then pinching the coil into shapes that can be glued together. There are advanced techniques and different sized paper that are used to create 3D miniatures, abstract art, and quilled flowers among many things.

So let’s start with the basics.

I’ll share 7 tips about Paper Quilling.

First off, is:

USING QUILLING PAPER

Paper quilling starts with rolling strips of paper , so the first thing in your supplies list is the quilling paper. You can purchase pre-cut packs of quilling paper in art and crafts stores, but you can also cut your own strips of papers. The length and size of the paper will determine how the paper quilled project eventually looks. A paper quilling pattern will help you choose what size of quilling paper is required.

Next is:

CHOOSING THE RIGHT TOOLS

To paper quill, you will need the right tools. A slotted tool is usually recommended to the paper quilling beginner because it is easier to roll paper with it. However, the slotted tool tends to crease the paper strips. Those who are more experienced in paper quilling may prefer the needle tool. Even though it is slightly more tricky to use, many crafters prefer the needle tool as it tends to result in a neater, crease-less paper roll. Glue is another essential item on the supplies list. It is also helpful to have a pair of tweezers to handle the quilled pieces and a circle template to measure the coils with.

After getting the tools required, let’s go to:

LEARNING BASIC SHAPES

The most basic shape of paper quilling is the rolled paper coil. By pinching and adjusting the tension of the paper coil, different quilled shapes are made. Some of the most basic paper quilling shapes are shown in the picture above. The types of basic shapes are the tight coil, loose coil, teardrop, curved teardrop, marquise, curved marquise, asymmetric heart scroll, square and the S-scroll.

Once you’ve mastered the basic shapes, you can proceed to:

TRYING A SIMPLE CARD

Try making a simple greeting card. You don’t need a lot of shapes to make something fun with paper quilling. You could create a simple flower or a garden of them.

After making a little quill art on a card, you should:

EXPERIMENT WITH OTHER CREATIVE APPLICATIONS

Paper quilling does not limit only to card art, you can also expand your quilling prowess through wall art or even framed artwork. Some artists even make wearable jewelry using paper quilling!

LOVE is…

Love. This word exists. The world knows this word but some have yet to understand it. Me, a person who yet to learn more of the word, Love. Now, let us begin with love and its definition. Love is having a certain type of affection towards a person or a thing. Love is a variety of feelings swirling within us and has a range or meter to it. Like loving a thing, like a stuffed animal. Loving your friends. Loving your family. Loving everything in the world. But there is more to love than meets the eye. There are different kinds of love (separate to the ones I mentioned earlier). There is mutual love wherein two individuals have the same feelings for each other but not in a relationship. Then there is the romantic love, where the two are deeply in love with each other and results to them being together in a relationship. And lastly is the erotic love, where this love focuses mostly with lust or with the urge in their minds and hearts. There are so many things in the world that talk about love and so many things can teach others about it but it is not enough just by learning it or copying it off from someone else.. you! Only you alone can find the answer to that. To search for it, we must deeply open our hearts and understand what love is. Well, hello guys! Its been 4 months since my last blogging session, so yeah! Makin’ up for lost time! mehehehehe! okay, here it goes…

ERROR 404: content is in the process of remaking… please be patient and yeah! 😉 Stay tuned! 😀

A definition of “Love”

Love. Such a word is to be treated with the utmost care and responsibility. It is mostly about two different people giving themselves to the other. Sacrifice, hardships, tender love and care, softness, beauty, heart pounding moments, roller coaster rides, swirling tornadoes lashing upon the land. That is what love is. Most people have encountered this and taken on the very challenges it brings. Ups and downs are made but in the long run, the journey is, oh, too sweet!
